This winter, come join us as we cozy into our creating space for
3 full days and four evenings of art making. The retreat is like
a mini artists residency, where each artist brings their favorite
mediums to work on. We start at 8am (or earlier if you want)
and end whenever you would like. Some people create until
well after midnight while others call it good around 9 or 10.
Teesha & Tracy will bring some fresh new workshops as well
as take you on a couple of photography walks and evening
journaling sessions down at the Undertown coffeehouse with live
music.
Teesha Moore will be teaching various techniques in Mixed Media Painting & Drawing which you can explore in your journal
or on big canvases. Each of the 3 mornings she will demo various techniques to play around with for the day.
Tracy Moore will be bringing his lomo cameras for you to borrow if desired. You are free to join him on a couple of walks to
learn some great tips and tricks on getting great shots, double
shots and developing tips. He will also be giving instructions on
making a TTV camera at PLAY. More instructions on this will be
in your confirmation.
The final project will be instructions on how to make a great
travel/cookbook journal. For our “trades” this year, we are
asking everyone to bring their favorite recipe for everyone in
the group. This journal will be made out of an old children’s
picture book and you will love it for all sorts of things.
Whatever your level is, you are welcome. Groups like this are
so great for collaborating too. Bring your work and invite suggestions from your fellow artists. Sometimes a fresh pair of
eyes can really open your own, especially if you feel that your
work has been getting a little stale and don’t know which direction to go next.
Each person will get their own 6’ table to work on. The workroom will be in The Commons, room A&B (same room as the artfest office) as we love the giant windows, the carpeted floor
and the easy access to a sink
Fort Worden is an old military base that is located in beautiful
Port Townsend, Washington. Even though the fort is a little
rough around the edges, our attendees continually tell us that is
what adds to it's charm. You will see deer casually walking
right in front of you as you meander down to your workshops.
With the ocean and the trees as your backdrop, it will take
your breath away. It is approximately a 2-hour drive from the
SeaTac Airport. The trip involves driving into Seattle, taking a
1/2 hour ferry to Bainbridge Island and then traveling for
about an hour north up the other side of puget sound.
