PLAY is a retreat that is in it's 3rd year now. It consists of a core group who have been there for both years along with new folks that quickly became one of the gang. Everyone brings their journals to work on but some of the participants bring other projects as well. For 2010 we will be teaching the following topics:
Teesha - Journaling with paint, collage, copic airbrush, pens, etc.
Tiphoni - a shortened version of her watercolor self portraits workshop (a popular artfest workshop).
Tracy - working with polymer clay to make ancient, relic looking journals, boxes, jewelry, etc. He will include methods of binding your journals that you make from the clay.
These demos/workshops are always optional as many people just come to work on their art within a supportive and inspiring group setting. This is " sun-up to sun-down" creating time in a light filled workroom with many participants creating into the wee hours. We will be using the 2 large rooms upstairs in 204 for this retreat so each participant will get a desk to themselves to create on. These rooms will provide more light, more outlets, an outdoor deck (for cooking polymer) and more space.
The retreat starts at 5pm on a thursday afternoon (check-in is from 3-5) we'll have dinner around 6:00 and then get back to creating for the rest of the evening or as late as you care to stay.
friday, saturday & sunday: 3 full days to work. You will be given a schedule when you arrive for the "workshops"
monday: pack up and go by 10am.
$550 includes a shared room in an officer's house for 4 nights, dinner on thur, lunch on friday & saturday, and their famous brunch on sunday. ($650 for a private room). We do not offer off-campus options. You are responsible for your own breakfasts and dinners (except for thursday). People group together to go into town for dinner.
The date is January 28 to Feb. 1, 2010 and it will be held at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend, WA.
