Grandma’s paper flowers never looked so good! We will use a variety of the best crepe paper to create some of the most beautiful crepe paper flowers you’ve seen. The colors and textures of crepe paper have come a long way since these flowers were first popular. We will go over many types of patterns to produce lush bouquets of these beauties. Cutting techniques, pattern placement, shaping and wiring will all be covered. Each of these flowers can be sized up or down to fit the scale of the artwork they will be used for. Join me for lots of fun with loads of color!
I was born in eastern Washington where the art world felt non existent to a creative boy. My best friend and I would spend our allowance each week at the only craft store in town, so I have had my hands in many expressions of art throughout my life. I made my living in the “perishable arts” as a florist for 32 years but for the last year I have been an artist with a new business. My childhood of constantly changing the medium I was working with has its reflection in my adult life as well. For all my years as a florist I was always doing something on the side. I designed and built wedding and specialty gowns for many years. I work a lot with handmade wool felt and mohair making puppets and animals. I love to draw crazy images on watercolor paper with a black jelly pen. I delight in the craft of spun cotton using it for many other types of things than its traditional application. And I love to work with paper of all types; folding cutting bending and shaping it into all sorts of things that bring me joy. But my best thing is sharing my gift with a classroom of people who are excited to share their gifts and create art.
