What is more precious than a delightful little book of sumptuous leather that fits in the palm of your hand? Two books, of course! This tiny volume (2” x 3”) features decorative hand stitching on the cover, hand torn deckle edges on the inside pages, and the longstitch binding with a woven spine. Exploring many options for color and decorative stitching combinations, each student will complete two little books in class.

• Cutting mat
• Ruler with a metal cutting edge
• X-acto knife with fresh blades
• Scissors
• Pencil with eraser
• Bone folder
• Hole punching tool with a needle size point
• Japanese drill punch with 1.0, 1.5 and 3.0 bits  OR  Leather rotary punch tool with 1/16", 1/8" and 3/16" points
• 2 small bulldog clips
• Small brayer  
• 1” flat bristle brush for glue
• Small bottle of Sobo or other adhesive for leather

• 24 sheets of watercolor paper, 140 lb. weight, size 5 1/2” W x 4 1/4” H (12 used per book)
  
  
• The kit fee of $5. includes choice of leather covers, waxed linen sewing thread, and decorative sewing thread for two projects, collection of templates, and an illustrated instruction booklet to help re-create the project again. Sewing needles will be provided for use in class.

Pam Sussman is a full-time teacher, author and book artist working in paper and fabrics. Formerly a graphic designer, Pam studied bookmaking with Shereen LaPlantz, and for many years taught classes at Art Continuum in Cleveland. She is the author and illustrator of Fabric Art Journals: Making, Sewing and Embellishing Journals from Cloth and Fibers, published by Rockport/Quarry Books in November, 2005. Recent teaching venues include the Society for Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh, Quilt Surface Design Symposium in Columbus, Ohio, Chautauqua Institution in New York and ArtFest. During the summer months, Pam hosts week long book and paper arts workshops from her home studio in Munster, Indiana, a suburb of Chicago.
