Experience the joy of creating a unique painting on plywood. Working quickly, we will paint a lovely background for your cute little girl. We will then move on to her fabulous newspaper dress and finish with an intensive face painting with the exciting Genesis Heat-set Oils. Many of the techniques you will learn can be incorporated into other types of art. The face will already be drawn for you. Prepare to be inspired!

• *Gesso
• *Scissors
• *Golden Fluid Acrylic Paints: Burnt Umber, Paynes Gray. Any other colors that inspire you (the dress will be painted with Fluid Acrylics so choose your colors before the class).
• *Liquitex Basics: Yellow Oxide, Raw Sienna, Burnt Sienna, plus a complimentary color like blue or red (Note: Optional: you can get a full set of Basics from DickBlick.com for less than $20. This will last you a long time and will paint your entire background with lots of variety. Item # is 00717-0369 — 36-Tube Set of .75 oz Tubes)
• *Any foam stamps that you like (I have plenty if you don’t already have them)
• *A Few Pieces of text from old books
• *About 10 different small pieces of scrapbook paper
• *Sea Sponge for painting
• *Liquid Matt Medium
• *One bottle of craft paint in a color you like to paint the edges and back of the painting
• *Paintbrushes – I use mostly inexpensive golden taklon-type brushes(. I love the Robert Simmons brushes from Hobby Lobby). For the faces, my favorite brushes are a Loew-Cornell 7500 Filbert Size 10/0 and a Master’s Touch 700KF Filbert Size 4. Make sure you have a small liner brush for lashes and eyes and a ½-3/4” brush for large facial areas
  
  
• *Optional: If you have a heatgun, please bring it. I will have a few there and we will all have to share.

I am a self-taught artist living about 30 minutes outside Birmingham, Alabama. I am married and have 4 children. I have considered myself an artist since about the age of 5. I have never been to school to study art, preferring to find my own path at my own pace. I feel that it is important to learn something every single day. I have made porcelain dolls for 14 years and have written 11 articles for Doll Crafter and Costuming Magazine. Currently, I make jewelry and purses featuring images from my paintings, as well as selling the paintings themselves.

I keep no secrets (although I love to sprinkle secrets through my art!) and will happily tell you anything you would like to know about any technique I use. Artfest (last year) has been an amazing experience for me. It is so cool to spend time with so many accepting, amazing people!
