Join the fun as we create colorful rug hooked birds with their own little party hats. In this creative workshop you will learn the age old technique of primitive rug hooking with a fun new look.We will use beautiful hand dyed wool on linen burlap backing to rug hook our one of a kind birds. We will also make each bird their very own party hat or crown out of felt and decorate them with beads and trim. So, bring your rug hook and scissors and the rest will be provided in your class kit.
Mary Stanley is a fiber and mixed media artist, rug hooker, traveler and collector of folk art and textiles. She has a BA in printmaking from UCSB and has drawn and made art as long as she can remember. She has co-owned a craft gallery, been a graphic designer, sold her jewelry, weaving, and wearable art at shows and galleries and has her work in many magazines and books. She enjoys teaching art in Santa Barbara and at Artfiberfest.
She lives in the mountains above Santa Barbara with her family and 3 cats and works in her studio every day.
