description
The pattern for this softie is basically one piece, which leaves room for lots of interpretation; they can be girls, animals or aliens, whatever you imagine. Pryor to creature assembly you will have a chance to paint and stamp and sew on some of the pieces of fabric used to create the doll. You will be strip piecing to create the body of the doll and then use appliqué, painting, and sewing embellishment techniques to define the unique character of your creation.. You will receive a pattern in several sizes to make the creature any size you choose.
I am a mixed media teaching artist exploring my creative voice through visual art journals, cloth dolls, collage, painting, and sewing. I am passionate about color, cloth, journaling and exploring the layered surface. I currently work for the Museum of Children’s Art in Oakland, CA as a full time teaching artist. I teach classroom teachers, artists and children how to develop their creative practice.
I live in the bay area of northern California with my husband and two dogs.
My work has appeared in Somerset Workshop, vol.1, Somerset Memories, Sew Somerset, Making Creative Cloth Dolls, and an up-coming publication, Stuffed, a gathering of softies.
