Keepsake Legacy Album

In this class we will explore how to make a keepsake legacy album. You will learn how to combine your personal or found photos along with small tokens, mementos and Paper Ephemera create pages to tell a story (personal or fictional, you decide) we will create pockets to house mementos or various small art work that we will be making in class such as a small book and multi media art cards. Fabric and paper manipulation along with machine sewing on various surfaces will also be covered in this class. Delight in the details as we learn about the joys of hand stitching to create texture and drama into your pages. Lastly you will assemble your book by way of Japanese Stab Binding.
Supply List:
- Sewing machine
- Machine Quilting thread (I use Coats & Clark)
- Quilt Machine Needle - Size 14/90
- StazOn® inkpad (I will have some to use in class)
- Rubber stamps deeply etched. (I will have some to use in class)
- Muslin, natural – 1 yard
- ˝ yard each of two different complementary colors of felt wool or craft.
(If you would like you can wash your wool felt and place it in the dyer on high and it will pucker up for a nice texture.)
- ˝ yard Organza, assorted colors
- ˝ yard decorative fabric (such as a brocade)
- assortment of cotton Fat Quarters in solid colors
- Clorox gel bleach pen
- Trim, lace, buttons, and jewelry or any mementos that you would like to incorporate into your album.
- Photos or images (please bring at lest 8 photos)
- Mica
- Japanese screw down punch (if you have one)
- 3 yards of ribbon for binding
- a stick or similar object around 8 ˝ inches for binding
- Perle cotton # 5 or embroidery floss in a few colors
- Scissors
- Embroidery needle
- Awl
- 2 large binder clips
- Book text, sheet music or any type of paper elements that you would like to add.
