Multiplicity

The sea, trees, Buddha, hands? Name your favorite thing! Start snapping away with those cameras. In this class we will focus on a theme of your choosing. Something that you truly love, that inspires you and calls to you. Using a variety of different black and white images we will create a painting that expresses the way you feel about what you love. Not only will we be using multiple images to drive us but multiple words as well – bring along a collection of poems, song lyrics, and passages to inspire your piece.

Note: photographs that you take yourself are best; however, black and white images printed out on photo paper are also acceptable.

Supply List:

• 12x36 canvas or similar rectangular configuration
• Heavy Body Acrylic Paints in a variety of colors– any brand will due Liquitex Basics starter set comes with a variety of colors for a reasonable price if you are starting out found here
• Caran D’ache Neo Color II in black, white and basic colors (other colors optional) – found here
• Pan Pastels in a dark neutral color (ex. Black, Sepia, Grey) found here
• Round sponge Soft Pan Pastel Tool found here
• Brushes (variety) suggested – ¾” flat, #4 round, #2 filbert, #4 filbert
• 2 Water containers (one for clean and one for dirty) I like a larger one with a screen for the dirty found here
• Rags
• Matte medium (liquid not gel)
• Plastic squeeze bottle found here
• Old credit/gift card
• Black Stabilo Aquarellable pencil found here
• White Stabilo Aquarellable pencil
• Black and white photographs based on one theme (at least 16 different images (3x5 or smaller) )
  
  **VERY IMPORTANT - printed on “MATTE” photo paper
• Palette or palette paper
• Tsquare (should be the length of your canvas) foudn here
• Poems, song lyrics, passages that relate to your theme
