EGG-ology

Tracie Lyn & Marylin Huskamp

Combining the techniques of stenciling, stippling, and the richness of  painting, create artworks inspired by bird eggs and nests. Secrets to  forging perfect representations of such delicate and intricate natural  subjects, imbued with both color and depth, will be revealed.

Explore ideas for developing your own stencils, using stippling tools to make purposeful yet random looking marks, as well as rendering complex-looking nest structures via a precise painting method of  multiple single strokes. In addition, students will investigate design principles of composition, design concepts of highlighting and shadowing that lend a three-dimensional quality to any subject,  along with in-depth information discussed for referencing particular bird species.
