During the last half ot the 19th century several things came into being, automation and more complex flight machines  . Hence  this piece is a bit symbolic  of  that  time period  . We will use gears, wood , metals,  jewelry parts, feathers , lace, ribbon etc. and   combine all of these to create a pleasing   ornate design  so   poplar during that time period.  In this class we will construct and  alter a base from craft store finds and vintage materials .I will teach  ways to design and adhere    objects from various materials  in ways that will hold together  and be design pleasing  . Our bird will then be created using a  simple form  that will be revealed in class. The bird is then covered in a no solder pewter metal wrap and dipped in a patina  solution ( done outside and with gloves ) . It’s  legs will be formed from wrapped  wire. You will select from jewelry findings, doo dads, ribbon, lace and unusual water based paints( that mimc metal)  all  from my collection to embellish your base and bird . Simple attaching   techniques I have developed will also be taught. . This piece is highly decorative and design principals will be a strong part of this class.
