Creating shrines seems to be hardwired into all artists since our days in caves. These shrines came about as a result of wanting a daily reminder of my grandmother through the little figurines she had left to all the grandchildren. Though simple when left on their own, creating a home for them on a silver tray with glass playing behind them quickly became a favorite art form for me. We will start with an oval silver tray and build a shelf out of a tea saucer. Your background mosaic can compliment or agitate your choice of figure that is perched in front. The final piece is about 10” tall. This class is fun for first timer as well as returning students. You will learn basic techniques of controlling the shape of glass and fitting to get your intended design. This is a delightful and satisfying art form.
