The Sandman

Keely Benkey

The Sandman is the ambassador of tranquility and sleep. Create your own personalized sandman in this fun and exciting workshop where techniques in sculpture, painting and assemblage will be taught.

Your sandman comes to life as you learn a step by step procedure for sculpting the head and facial features that reflect it’s own unique personality, expression and attitude. Acrylic paints will be applied with instruction given in choosing and mixing colors to enhance the project. All this is formed on the top of an antique glass bottle filled with sand and tiny mementos. A $10 kit fee provides most of the materials needed with students only needing to bring a few tools. You will leave class with a unique finished project and new skills for clay sculpting and assembling.
