Layered 3D Collage
Kathyanne White
Want to add excitement to your projects? Go 3D in a good way. This process can be used in collage, mixed media, journals, art books, artist trading cards and other creative activities. We will assemble small compositions and experiment with exercises that help expand your creative techniques. Once the workshop is completed, you will have many ideas on how to proceed and build on what you have learned.
This workshop is largely a process class, but you will end up with elements to use in future work. While producing 3D elements, we will manipulate fabric, paper and other items, layering, wrapping, stringing, etc. Each student will bring their own special style to the elements created. Participants will be encouraged to develop their own interpretation of the ideas presented.
Join us and enjoy a world of discovery. Stretch, as your imagination leads you through the exercises to expand your creativity.
Supply List:
- Scissors
- Gel medium or glue
- Embroidery thread
- Needles for Embroidery thread
- Wire- between 24 to 33 gauge-brass, copper or silver only one spool or package
- 4 pieces of heavy weight paper or fabric 8” x 8”

The fiber work of artist Kathyanne White, has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in museums and galleries throughout the United States and abroad. Her work is in the collection of the Museum of Arts and Design, the American Folk Art Museum and the Archives of American Art of the Smithsonian Institution.
Kathyanne has been featured in a variety of arts publications including Fiber Arts, Surface, American Style, Folk Art Magazine, The Metropolitan Spirit, Log Home Design Ideas, Quilting Arts, New Zealand Quilter and Fiber Arts Design Book #7. In 2001 she was named a “trendsetter” in Art Business News, as an emerging artist.
White is a recipient of a 2009 Artists Project Grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts for her project “Expanding the Digital Print to Uncommon Surfaces.”
