In this techniques based workshop, each students will receive a simple handmade book of 10 8” x 8” pages. Thorough details and instruction will be given to fill each page. There will also be technique work stations.
Many of the technique are ones I personally developed and have written about in Somerset Studio magazines. Some of these simple techniques include: bleach technique, quick paintovers, matte medium resist, alcohol resist, quick snapshot polaroid look, special scribing, simple collage exercise, unique background techniques and so many others.
The sampling book will have the theme of children. We will be using images of delicate faces set in a grunge-ish, painterly backgrounds. The images will be provided.
The participant will not only leave with a new set of techniques to use in their own art making; they will also have a beautiful, yet simple book to remember this great day at Artfest.
Although class is called Boatload of Techniques, the books will not be shaped like boats - sorry.
