Catharsis! Mark Making Book

Spontaneous deep down strokes make this class a path to creative genius. Many materials, tools and media  will be explored-spontaneous combustion will occur. Catharsis by definition is a purification or purging of the emotions primarily through art. No calligraphy or lettering experience is required-you already have this mark making knowledge inside you. There is something so cleansing about intuitive movement, large scribbling and making art. You will use your creations to create a unique book using a piano hinge non adhesive binding that is truly easy-no sewing!

Supply List:

• Paper-Arches Text wove is good -white and black both-available at Art Stores, johnnealbooks.com and paperinkarts.com
• Arches Hot Press is nice a couple sheets are needed of both-the more you have the free-er you will feel about creating and allowing a few for messing up ( we will totally recycle and use even the ‘bad’ pages)
• Cut these into strips of 10” by 22” size
• A packet of shish kebab skewers-the 10 inch size
• Scissors
• Eye dropper or pipette
• small spray bottle
• Pointed and flat brush ( cheap is ok!)
• Pack of Portfolio water soluble oil pastels,
• Random mark making tools you already have-popsicle sticks, chopsticks, ball-point or gel pens ( just a couple of these)
• Watercolors in the tube if you have them
• 6 well plastic palette
• Wite out pen
• Ruler
• assortment of pencils regular and colored-not a whole lot
• water container, paper towels or rags and an apron
• bottle of water
