Ooooh, this journal simply begs you to carry it around and fill it up! Eminently
squashable, stuffable, and flexible, this softbound journal is far more sturdy than any
paper back journal, and more gorgeous too! This journal lies flat to work in, even
though the spine is covered. We?ll hand-paint the covers in class, and learn the knot
that creates the binding stitch. You?ll have a practice board for the stitch, and will leave
with a step-by-step sample so you can use this binding over and over. This sewing is
my all-time favorite, and class participants will have access to a video that covers the
binding process for three months after Artfest. We will have enough materials on hand
to make two journals- one large and one small. This class is one you will enjoy and use
again. I?ll provide cord, waxed linen thread, needles, spray bottles, goo-gone, and

A Little About ME
Passionate about creating rich visual journal pages and intriguing artist books, LK Ludwig has authored four books related to art journaling for Quarry Books. LK is a firm believer in the idea that by working with what we know and using accessible art materials- a digital camera, a printer, and basic art supplies- we can create extraordinary, meaningful visual journals. With studio spaces that are in the middle of her family's life (the entry way of their home and an island in the kitchen of their river cottage), with small children, an artist-husband, and a chocolate lab puppy underfoot, LK works each day, inspired by what she sees through her camera lens and with her heart. LK lives in Pennsylvania and loves traveling throughout the U.S. to teach classes to other artistic souls.
