Are you a Polynesiac like me? Come get your Fiji on and make tiki lamps with me!
And let me tell you, these are not your grandma’s tiki torches! These are totally hip, funky freaki tikis. We’ll use wire to make our kooky gods of party and cover them with paper mache made of Japanese paper. If you’ve not worked with wire, no problem! It’s easy and tiki style is very forgiving, in fact the funkier the better. This would be a great class for beginners. So no worries, be happy. We’ll have our own little Artfest Luau as we work. I'll bring my collection of Polynesian Pop music! See you on the island….
Kit Fee: $6
Supply List:
- Black or dark annealed iron wire preferably 16ga for support
You may also want a thinner gauge for added interest and easier workability
Henery’s Hardware in Port Townsend has this wire and you can call ahead and order some to be there when you arrive: (360) 385-5900
(if you have hand strength issues, you could buy a thinner gauge wire. It just won’t be quite as sturdy, but we can work around that)

- Heavy wire cutters
- a bottle of carpenter’s wood glue
- Gloves- you might want these I didn’t use any, but the wire is stiff and dirty
