Make it Funky
Misty Mawn
Think Circus meets Prom, Halloween meets Cinco de mayo, or fourth of
July meets Picasso. Weird? Funky? Playful? Odd? Expressive? YES!
YES! YES!
We will turn innocent collage images & ideas into wild and spunky
pieces of art by altering them any way we can. We will be painting,
drawing, mixing colors, and exploring our inner funkiness! Come spend
the day with me freely creating 3 - 5 pieces of funky art! This is a
class for everyone & all!
Supply List:
- 5 or more (depending on size and how quickly you work) pieces of 140lb hot press Water Color Paper (odd sizes are fun for this project, 6” x 18” or larger, but any size, as long as it’s not too small, is great)
- Golden Soft Gel Matte Medium
- Heavy Body Titanium White Paint
- Acrylic Paints: All you need are heavy body Yellow, Blue & Red, but feel free to bring any other colors you love.
- A nice healthy stash of collage material, from books, magazines, catalogs, ephemera... the funkier the better! Odd faces, imagery, ideas... we will be turning them into beautifully odd pieces of art.
- Back & White Gel pen or Sharpie
- Scissors
- Brushes
- Black Aquarella Stabilo Marks All Pencil
- A container for water
- A few rags or paper towels Teacher will Provide:

Misty Mawn is a full time mixed media artist, mother, and workshop instructor. She spends every single day possible creating, playing, exploring, learning, and constantly being inspired and intrigued by everything around her. Her passion to create continues to bless her life with purposeful work and fulfilling adventures. When not in the studio she can be found amusing and be amused by her two darling children, cooking up come creative concoction in the kitchen, or strolling the back trails with camera in hand. She studied studio art at Moravian College, started a pottery business, and has since retired from clay to focus on painting and teaching mixed media art. She lives with her husband and children amongst the Blue Ridge mountains of rural Virginia
