Paintings seem to scare a lot of people. Not the paintings so much as the idea of actually painting one yourself. I think it might be something about the paintbrush......so in this class we will make wonderfully layered abstract paintings without using brushes. Instead we will use palette knives, trowels, sticks, skewers, stencils, sponges, paper towels, markers, pencils, pastels and even our hands. Our process will be free wheeling, fun filled and (yes!) joyful.
Taking a cue from the Faux Finishing Biz, we will use some of their very cool products, such as Wood Icing™ Textura, paints, glazes and other items originally used to transform walls and furniture. No worries about composition or color selection. I have some tricks up my sleeve that will help you create a pleasing abstract composition. For color, we will work with a limited palette and learn mixing techniques to create a range of colors that all harmonize beautifully. By the time you are finished you will not only have some stunning paintings but will be armed with loads of ideas for other mixed media pieces.
