The only thing better than texture is more texture! Layers of texture, all piled up on one another, parts peeking out from under other parts, yum, yum. In this class, we will work on building depth within a collage painting by enhancing the piece with a variety of textures. From tissue paper (and it's not how you are thinking) to cardboard to acrylic mediums to Wood Icing™, we will play with them all. Using stamps and stencils and paints and markers, we'll create layer after layer of glorious texture/color/texture/color until the piece moves to a entirely new level.
I will show you an easy way to make 'dry brush' effects for shadows or highlights in your work; how to highlight certain areas with foil effects; and ways to use texture to feature parts of your composition. We will work across multiple pieces, moving back and forth to allow drying time. At the end of the day, you will have several finished pieces plus a toolbox of techniques to apply to all your mixed media work.
