Spontaneously making art, sending and receiving artful things by snail mail is a stress free, attractive, and desirable way to be creative and at the same time feel connected to a larger community in a new old-fashioned way. It allows us to create in a lighthearted manner, free of artistic rules, be humorous, and to also promote creative liberty all over the world. It’s a multi-layered experience. It involves the gathering of day-to-day ephemera, making of the mail art- postcards, packages, envelopes, the middle entity (post office), the receiver, and the return mail, allowing for excitement along the way. Once you create your mail art, you send it away and let it have a life of its own. So let’s make mail art, postcards, and envelopes, by working in multiple media and rich layering processes, materials, and imagery, and make the end of this workshop become the beginning of the beautiful practice of the art of correspondence.
