Queens Sixpence Theater

Toy theaters date to the early 1800’s around the beginning of Queen Victoria’s reign. The theaters became one of the most played with toys. Theaters which could be bought in color or black and white were made of made of heavy card stock sheets. In this class we will construct a 9 x 9 x11 inch illuminated cardboard theater, rich in color and decoration. This three dimensional theater will have two curtains, stage lights, scenery, characters and a lovely marquee. And it will deconstruct and lay flat for transporting. So, please come join me in reliving the magic of the toy theater.
