THE ART OF LIFECASTING is a one day workshop in lifecasting techniques. Learn how to make life-size 3-D replicas of faces, hands, torsos, & more!
LIFECASTING or BODYCASTING is an exciting and powerful art form that has been used for centuries to immortalize its subjects. Today’s high-tech methods are streamlined and accurate enough to duplicate fingerprints, wrinkles, even eyelashes! And unlike a photograph or painting, lifecast sculptures show the subject from every angle.
In this wild and fun workshop, internationally known artist Philip Hitchcock will cover the history and basics of lifecasting. Participants learn first from a slide and video presentation the steps for making a lifecast, and then see Hitchcock demonstrate his amazing technique using a live model.
Afterwards, in a hands-on lab, you and your classmates will use a special fast setting impression medium to make lifecast sculptures of each other. (Size approx. 12” x 12”) Get expert tips on how to color, embellish and display your artwork. Most students leave with a ready to paint sculpture. This lab is MESSY and extremely HANDS-ON!
