The Fairy Album

Pamela Huntington

Several years ago I was fortunate to find a tiny 2 x2” album and it just enchanting. It was filled with very tiny pictures and embossed on the front were the words “Fairy Album”. And since I have always enjoyed the tiny album, it seemed like a good Inspiration for my own version of this little treasure. The “Fairy Album” we will be creating will be about 3 x 3“ with a red velvet covers, a resin filled bezel on the cover and embossed metal “fairy album” plate. We will learn how to make our tiny collage in the bezel, attach it to the cover. The pages will be made of mica sheets, cut to size and also a variety of other materials you might like to use. Then we will add eyelets to each page and the covers and bind it all together for the final album.

Left New York City many years ago and landed like Alice in a sort of strange wonderland deep in the woods of Connecticut. Immediately, she began to find haunting flights of fancy, curious old recipes, vintage oddities and ephemeral pages stashed in old cupboards. And that is where the folly began…mixed media, collage ..paper and digital, handmade books, and tiny theaters began fill the house in the woods… objects of the everyday tucked into shadowboxes taking on the patina of age, tiny beeswax creations adorning the library of imagination and so on…to be continued.. In the meantime finished works available in various galleries, stores and published in Cloth Paper Scissors, Somerset Studio.
