Mixed Media Portraits
Roxanne Padgett
participants will create unique mixed media portraits by drawing, painting, printing and collage. Learn the basic elements of drawing faces. No drawing experience necessary! You will be making your faces on manila folders, large envelops and canvas that you will layer with paint, using brushes, sponges, stamps and stencils. Add collage elements of painted paper, transparencies, black and white and color copies and embellishments. I will bring the tools, stencils, paint and collage materials.
Kit Fee: $15
Supply List:
- paper scissors
- drawing tools-whatever you have
- black Sharpie pen
- inexpensive paint brushes-1 round, 1 flat, 1 liner
- UHU glue sticks, 1 or 2
optional: - apron
- blow dryer to dry layers

I am a mixed media teaching artist exploring my creative voice through visual art journals, collage, painting, and sewing. I am passionate about color and exploring the layered surface. I currently work for the Museum of Children’s Art in Oakland, CA as a teaching artist for children and adults.
My work has appeared in Somerset Workshop, Somerset Memories, Sew Somerset, Making Creative Cloth Dolls, Stuffed-a gathering of softies and Green Craft.
