Game Time
Shelly Massey
Students will create a chess board with game pieces depicting a theme of their choosing. Students will also create simple checkers for alternate game options
Supply List:
- Acrylic paint in favorite colors plus black and white
- Medium brush and small detail brush
- Water container and rags for paint
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Gel medium or Modge Podge for gluing down collage pieces (I like
- Golden Regular Gel Medium.)
Optional: - Xacto Knife, Cutting Mat, and Metal Straightedge (It’s very handy if the Straightedge happens to be 1.25 inches wide for cutting game board squares.)
- Paint markers
- Additional collage papers
- Additional favorite embellishments
- Small hammer for pounding in nails and tacks (instructor will have some to share)
- Black sharpie marker(s)
Teacher will Provide: - Materials for game board and game pieces
- Handles
- Sandpaper
- Collage papers
- Pouch for storing your pretty pieces

Shelly Massey is a doodler and designer who has been teaching in one way or another for most of her life. She loves all things clever, colorful and amusing.
Shelly attended the University of Kansas School of Design and earned a BFA in Design. She has spent the last 15 years unlearning most of those design principles and relearning how to make art just for fun.
Shelly currently resides in Middletown, Ohio but has also called Kansas, South Carolina and Washington her home. Time not spent doodling is filled up with loving life along with her handy, hard-working husband and super-sweet, smarty-pants daughter.
