Abstract Theory

Tiphoni

This class explores what abstract means as a way of thinking about creating art. Many people struggle with knowing just where to begin when sitting down to create, we will be discovering how to use spontinaeity as a catalyst. It will also show you how to push your work farther than you ever thought possible. There will be no thinking, no considering, just doing and reacting to what you've done. Prepare to throw paint, drip ink, crumple paper, dance with your pen and just let loose in any way your whim takes you. If you are ever too precious with your work this is your chance to break through and discover what your truly capable of.

This year we will be working on several smaller personal works but there will be one large communal project as well.

I am a visual thinker, conceptualist, problem-solver and story teller. I have a passion for experiencing and studying the visual world for its lustrous color, its incredible shapes / spacial relationships, and its ability to form our thoughts, emotions and experiences as we go through life. Currently I've felt a strong pull towards interactive art and have been currently working on ways I can create my illustrative work but in a 3-dimensional environment so the viewer isn't simply reading my story but experiencing it by full immersion.

I graduated from RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration, June 2007. I have also been the the web-designer of Artfest, artFIBERfest the Journalfest sites for the past 5 years.
