Central Casting

Ty & Marcia Schultz

This class is all about  "making stuff". You will cast small items in rapid plastics out of silicone and rubber molds. We have designed this casting workshop to introduce and explore the use of Liquid "Fast Plastics" for the artist. Using a basic white and a clear urethane plastic we will create faux materials such as granite, jade, gemstones, marble, amber, colored glass, bone and ivory. We will cast them into a variety of molds to produce beads, buttons, charms, ornamental details and dolls. Each student is provided a set of small tools to use in class and access to our tools for finishing castings. You will each have enough material to create several castings and a helpful handout which will have information about supplies, websites, and techniques.
