Stacked
Annie Lockhart
Going beyond wings, crowns, and cabinet photos
…we will be leaving these old friends at home during this workshop…now known as the "friends of the friendless", we are here to make new friends in our art world.
Layer upon layer…the students will be creating a freestanding sculpture with everyday objects used in uncommon ways. Focusing on the basics of composition, scale, and texture.
We will start with a solid base, then start "stacking" and building from the "ground" up, so to speak…adding elements as we go…which will bear the students "thumbprint", giving meaning to the artist…while offering a visual treat for the rest of us to feast upon!
Students will be
encouraged to convey messages using their newfound "words" and "friends". Exposing the uncommon…we will go to the next level when looking for the elements to create these works of art. The combined outcome of these objects will marry one with the other…giving a new quest for the discarded.
