I just love when something old becomes something new, when something metamorphoses into a new life, just like the caterpillar to the butterfly. In this class we will be taking old (or new) copied images of things we love and transforming them into a work of art. We will create several pieces of newly inspired art from our own images, at the end of class we will pull them together to make a little keepsake book.
We will start by taking mat board scraps or old book covers, covering them with watercolor paper and using these as our canvas. Once our images have been transferred we will use painting techniques to add depth and texture to the work. This class we will be focusing on mastering gel transfers, exploring new painting techniques, and adding collage elements.
If you love to play with art supplies, get messy, and be spontaneous, join me for a day full of just that!
Misty Mawn is a down-to-earth artist, loving the journey of life and living her dreams. She has been an artist since she could walk, always feeling a strong urge to be creating with whatever it is in front of her. When she is not covered in paint and singing aloud in her studio, she most likely can be found amusing her two young children, creating in the kitchen, or looking for treasures at the beach. She studied studio art at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA with a focus on ceramics. After many years of being a studio potter she felt the need to explore new mediums and venture out to the unknown. She has fallen madly in love with painting and creating with a variety of mediums.
