Mystery Play Inside

Theo Ellsworth

Everyone gets stopped in their tracks by their inner-critic now and then. For us artists especially, our inner-critics are a constant boundary we have to hurdle in order to get to the GOOD stuff. But who is our inner-critic?! And don’t they have anything better to do?! In this workshop we’re going to GIVE them something better to do! We’ll start this class by coaxing our inner-critics out of their respective boxes and casting them as the detectives in the Mystery Play of our lives.

This workshop will be an introspective character-drawing game, played out in our imaginations. Using automatic drawing and writing as our tools we’re going to assemble a strange cast of characters from our own inner-worlds. We’ll explore Art Journaling as a way of unlocking the hidden potential inside the things we might perceive as flaws, and have fun investigating our own multi-faceted uniquely weird selves.
