Two art journals under one roof; this creation will house all your most secret journal entries in a brass house with stained glass doors. Students will build a house of brass and attach two books made with our original all-metal binding which requires no sewing. The doors of the house, which are the front covers of the books, are made of swirling baroque glass with images showing through. Once the binding is learned it can be adapted to all sorts of other materials and stylistic applications.

The books are filled with heavy watercolor paper and decorated with antiqued brass chain, charms & beads, and other favorite pieces of ephemera as is the roof area of the house.

This workshop is a “project-based” course, and covers several techniques for mixed media and assemblage work such as torching to alter metal, coloring metal with different chemical patinas, cold connection applications, glass cutting, basic bookbinding terminology, sheet metal fabrication, and more!
