This is a technique class where we will explore ways of capturing nature, and more specifically birds on fabric. This workshop combines methods for sketching an image onto fabric, working with and mixing acrylic paints to develop your subject, and capture important details of such delicate creatures, along with examining ways to distress fabric in order to create interesting backgrounds.

Using plain muslin, you will learn a fast and easy way of drawing your image onto a fiber surface. (No Drawing Skills Are Required!) This sketch will serve as a guide to aid in bringing your bird to life by using simple acrylic paints. In addition, we will explore unique methods for distressing fabric by creating a small book of swatches. This book will be extremely helpful for referencing particular looks and finishes applied to fabric when you are working in your own studio.
