Wretched Girl Journaling

This is a class for those of us who can relate to the following list:
- Owns a foot-high stack of unfinished journals.
- Finds writing meaningful stuff difficult.
- Hates her own handwriting.
- Doesn’t know where to start because even the first words out of the shoot sound stupid. Or whiny. Or mean.
- Has a sense of humor about it all, but would REALLY like to get over this journaling block.
In 2004 I created an art show based on the actual content of my high school diaries. When I first read through them, I understood why writing in my journal as an adult was so painful - I was WRETCHED!! Obviously I was stunted in my growth and was still approaching my journal as if I were 15 years old.
In this class we will invite our inner Wretched Girl to help us get over our bad self-image when it comes to journaling.
It will be a busy day. Each student will be given a Wretched Girl Journal to use in class. You will be given assignments to complete and you will be graded at the end. You will doodle on Pee Chee folders. You will write notes. You will have a secret pal. You will draw, paint, write, and create your own set of "fictionalized" characters. You will go home with an arsenol of tips, tricks, and techniques to take to your real-life journal.
(PS... if you have no problem journaling but would like to join the fun, please do!!)
