Under the Influence

We learn by seeing, copying, creating and doing. In this class we will learn from those who have come before us. Gleaning from the masters. Using a picture book that is based on an illustrative theme ( such as: Art Nouveau, Vargas Pinup Girls, Japanese Prints, Klimt, etc. ) we will examine style, color, lettering, line quality and detail. In this process we learn to study and in some cases copy so that we will be able to create original pieces of our own. Techniques taught will include - line drawing, pen, colored pencil, marker and pastel. You will create a journal that is a reference book as well as a piece of art.
