Painted Pocket Journals

Don’t we all love a pocket, so functional and yet they can be a bit mysterious, because anything can be inside. You will combine painted fabrics and paper to create these cool and colorful journals. If you want to create with fabrics but don’t want to use a sewing machine these books are a great way to play with those materials. First, you will learn how to paint on fabric with stencils, stamps, brushes and printing tools to create unique layered pieces of material that you will use for your books. The books will be constructed with heavy weight Pellon interfacing and will have fabric covers that have inside and outside pockets. We will also be making smaller books to fit inside the pockets, altering button cards and making large photo buttons for the fronts of the books. We will work on two books in class.
