It is so fun and satisfying to make your own journal. It’s even more exciting to make a journal that is filled with a mix of upcycled and recycled pages, inspiring you to work in it. Using copies of your artwork, and bits and pieces of ephemera and whatnot, we’ll rework, repurpose and give new life to these items, creating the type of journal that eliminates the fear of the blank page, urging you to jump in and use it. We will do this not only to create the inside pages, but also to create the covers. Then we’ll spiral bind them, making it a lovely journal or sketch book that opens flat or can be turned to use one side at a time. This fun and inspiring workshop will motivate you to make more journals and books when you return home, and the techniques used for birthing the pages can be used in other areas to enliven your art. You’ll leave class with a journal ready to use that evening at the Journal Jam!
This is an easy-going workshop for all experience levels! No experience necessary.
I'm a passionate & quirky self-employed mixed-media/fiber artist who loves rusty things, glitter glue, old books to cut up and cheap cameras. I'm smiling when my hands are dirty with paint or when I've MacGyvered a camera. It means I'm doing what I love--making art and doing things with my hands. I'm an avid visual journaler and my artwork and journal pages have been published in many books, including True Vision, 1,000 Artist Journal Pages, and the Creative Entrepreneur.
