Housed in an old book, this artist book will allow you to take nature journaling someplace deeper and more meaningful. Using your found natural bits, favorite writings on nature, and snapshots and other images of nature related things, we’ll create a book that is both a nature journal and a design notebook. We’ll take meaningful pieces and pictures and transform them not only into pages of an artist book, but into design elements that you can take into future work regardless of medium. We will practice creating gorgeous nature prints using patina solutions on brass mesh, nature print on paper using bleach and paints, ink jet transfers, wire wrapping of objects to pages, creating with the mesh, deriving a design from your imagery for simple block carving, and ways of adding texture to your pages with mica, spackle and glaze.
Guided activities will help you derive focus your ideas, and perhaps show you new ways to derive visual content that is personal, meaningful, and significant.
