Supply List:

• Images that resonate for you related to nature. These should include photographs along with, perhaps if you choose, images from magazines or vintage sources.
  • A word about the photographs: this is easy-peasy- you can have snapshots of favorite places you’ve traveled, your backyard, or a local park. Think intimate and take close up shots of fallen leaves, river stones, mud puddles, a flower.
  • You will want to make copies of a few of these images in varying formats:
    • printed on interesting paper
    • printed on a transparency
    • printed in mirror-image using an ink jet printer or copier on Jetprint multiproject paper available at Walmart in the office supply section. (see notes about ink jet copies below)
• Any poems or quotes that go with your images. You may want to make copies one or two in varying formats: Ideas: (not required)

• An old book. at least 6 x 9. Try to choose one with covers that interests you and paper you might want to use.
• Collage-y bits- things you like to work with- sticks, stones, seeds, bark, papers, baubles, ribbons, charms. Include things to use for your cover, but no need to over pack.
• Your favorite water soluble crayons or pastels. A small bit of watercolors would work too. Use what ever you already have.
• Eyelet setting tools and hole punch. (For 3/8” eyelets)
• basic tools- scissors, glue stick, pencil, ruler, exacto, awl, needle, paint brush,
• Please feel free to bring your camera to class and take as many photos of my samples as you wish.

  AN IMPORTANT WORD ABOUT INK JET COPIES. (must be ink jet.) Please use the correct paper as it is crucial to your success with the inkjet transfer technique. Pigment and/or archival inks usually don’t transfer, and the technique doesn’t work with good photo paper. You want to make your copies cheap ink, and the cheapest of the cheapest, worst of the worst, glossy photo paper. We are exploiting the flaws in a cheap product to make this technique work.
