Did you know that the reason they often called hat makers mad hatters was because the process of felting involved the use of mercury, which literally drove them bonkers. Well, don’t worry be won’t be using mercury to make these found object hats (unless you find an old thermometer to throw into the mix), but if you wear them around you might seem a bit out of whack. In this class we’ll take a hat form and incorporating various thingies we’ll create strange wearable, assemblage headdresses. If people think you’re weird, not to worry, because: “we’re all mad here”.
