Encaustic is an ancient art form of heated beeswax, damar resin and pigment. In this workshop we will use the basic encaustic formula-beeswax and damar, and create mini masterpieces with unique yarns, fabrics, strings, and recycled fabric bits. By embedding these textiles in the wax medium, we create beautiful pieces to hang, include in other projects, or just hold in our hand. The organic nature of encaustic marries seamlessly with the fabrics and yarns and the two mediums come together beautifully as delicate works of art. Participants are encouraged to bring their own textiles to personalize their creations!
